If you visited Austin, TX and didn’t go to @franklinbbq, did you really go to Austin?

We waited 2 1/2 hours to get THE best barbeque in the country. It was absolutely worth it but we did get some pro tips from our local friends. You don’t just wing this one. You’ll need a game plan:

- Get there early. Plan to arrive at least 1 1/2 hours before opening (even earlier on weekends). There will already be a line.
- Bringing friends is a strategy: Share more food, hold spots in line and keep each other company.
- There are folding chairs provided if you would like to sit down. Not a bad idea to bring your own.
- Layer up. The sidewalk you’re waiting on is like a shaded wind tunnel and it gets a lil’ breezy.
- Employees will make announcements on item availability. They’ll also estimate wait times for groups of people and let you know the cutoff of when they’ll likely run out. Be prepared to let them know what you’d like to order so they can make accurate counts.
- Save room for pecan pie.
- You can order for pickup a few days in advance. 5lb minimum and limited pickup windows.

When you think of Austin, TX, Italian food probably isn't the first cuisine that comes to mind. Patrizi's will change that.

The Patrizi family has been serving up authentic Italian food since 1948, with their original location in Beaumont, TX. Now, they are slinging epic homemade pasta out of an art-adorned food truck in Austin.

The location is actually on a large shared lot with The Butterfly Bar and nonprofit performance space, The Vortex. An absolute win-win-win situation.

Since we were a group of 4 foodies, we decided to divide and conquer, sharing the bruscetta, house salad and 3 pastas: The Pomodoro, Patrizi's Red Sauce and the Carbonara Alexandra.

Was it way too much? Yes. Did we eat it all? Also, yes.

Highly recommend this place for great Italian food when you're visiting Austin! Get there early to snag a seat – they get busy!
